Blood Warrior 1994 Kaneko

1994

Blood Warrior (c) 1994 Kaneko.
A fighting game with violence and gore ispired by 'Mortal Kombat'. However, the atmosphere is quite hylarious despite the exceeding blood sheds performed during the fight. Also, the gameplay is near the classical SFII style despite than MK.
If Shogun Warriors, the first vs fighting game by Kaneko, seems to take lot of ispiration by Street Fighter II, Blood Warrior instead seems to making a parody of the ultra-violent and dark tones of the Mortal Kombat's atmosphere, with a different background (Blood Warrior seems to show a background similar to the Feudal Japan).
Nine fighters available to choise, any of them resembling typical figures of the japanese legends, like in Shogun Warriors.

>>> TRIVIA
----------
This game is known in Japan as 'Ooedo Fight'.
Some rumors indicate Blood Warrior like the sequel of Shogun Warrior, but this was never confirmed by Kaneko.
Most of the characters in the game are the same of the another Kaneko fighting game 'Shogun Warriors' but their name are different. However, theyr old moves are still present, but some new one was added for any of them.
Here are reported the shared characters with the changes in theyr name (from Shogun Warrior to Blood Warrior) :
Ninja -> Arashi
Samurai -> Kinshro
Geisha -> Kasumi (in BW she manage huge claws)
Kappa -> Sampei
Kabuki -> Shishimaru
Shogun -> Syogethu
Other two characters Benkei and Goemon keep theyr original name, but theyr moves are totally different from theyr appearence on Shogun Warriors.
Differently from the rest of the cast, Ikky, the strange buddhist-type monk, makes his first appearance in Blood Warrior, so he's the only real new character in this game. Some of his moves seems taking some inspiration from Rayden of Mortal Kombat, like he was a burlesque version of him: overall, this strange character makes the whole fight more funny than usual.

>>> TRICKS AND TIPS
-------------------
Executing your opponent (aka Fatality) : after you've defeating your opponent on the final round, this one will get up bleeding and the voice 'Finish' will lighting in the screen: all you must do now is simply to press a random attack button, so your fighter will perform automatically a random special move, depending by the distance from you and your opponent, that will kill your opponent. There are 3 fatality effects :
* Opponent reduced to mush
* Opponent sliced apart
* Torso explosion (aka 'fontanel effect' cause the way the blood scroll from the remained legs : maybe the funniest killl on the game)
You can also choose to spare your opponent if you don't press any button while the 'finish' signal is still lighting: in this way, after the finish time is gone, your opponent will perform a standard 'lose for time out' pose.
